Since 1977, Corporate Accountability International (formerly Infact) has waged--and won--campaigns that challenge irresponsible and dangerous actions by corporate giants. Through a range of campaigns and tactics, the Boston-based membership organization has compelled dramatic changes in corporate conduct.
The following is a snapshot of the organization and its campaigns:
*The Nestle Infant Formula Campaign helped compel the World Health Organization's adoption of a global code regulating the marketing of breastmilk substitutes.
*The Nuclear Weapon Makers Campaign brought public pressure to bear on GE through grassroots action and an Academy Award-Winning Film, ultimately forcing the corporation out of the nuclear weapons business.
*The Challenging Big Tobacco Campaign contributed to the adoption of the global tobacco treaty.
*The Think Outside the Bottle Campaign has compelled states, cities, universities, businesses and individuals across the country to stop buying bottled water and water bottlers like Pepsi to better label the source of their water.
